Many families rely on school lunch programs throughout the school year to help supplement their food budgets. When school lets out for the summer, there are no more school lunches but no change in their budgets or need to feed their children. In an effort to help bridge the gap, we are partnering with Feeding Northern Arizona’s Future, a charitable organization based in Flagstaff, to bring a summer food program to Camp Verde.
Free food bags will be distributed starting Monday, July 1st at 7:30am-8:00am and 6:30pm-7:00pm at CVFC located at 564 S. Main Street in the Wingfield Plaza in Camp Verde. Bags will be available on a first come, first served basis with one bag being allowed per child. We will hand out bags until supplies last on each Monday in July at the same times. If these times are difficult for your family to make it to and you are in need of food, please reach out via email or our Facebook page and we will do our best to accommodate you.
In an effort to keep the program running as long as possible we are accepting food donations at our clinic or through our virtual food drive on Amazon. Simply place an order and it will be shipped directly to us! We are in need of kid-friendly, non-perishable food items like Easy Mac, canned meals like soups or pasta, cereal, oatmeal, pasta, sauce, peanut butter, applesauce, fruit cups, etc. Individually packaged items are best. We are also accepting gift cards to Basha’s or other local grocery stores so that families can buy some perishable items like milk or bread. Cash donations can also be made in person or via the Feeding Northern Arizona’s Future Website. Monetary donations made through their website are tax deductible and qualify for the AZ state tax credit.
We’re also happy to accept help in the form of volunteers as we put bags together and hand them out each Monday. Please get in touch if you, your organization, or your business would like to help in any way. If you’d like to host a food drive at your business, church or other entity, we’d love the extra support.
